TCC ShudderThe best way to diagnose a TCC shudder is to use your scan tool, and at the time the TCC shudder, check the TCC slip. If it rises and the TCC enable is on, then the TCC is probably the cause. The fix is to use the Sonnax TCC regulator valve or replace the valvebody on GM units. If the vehicle is not the ECCC units, then you may replace the TCC regulator spring with a stronger one. ECCC torque converters have a special carbon woven clutch, and usually have a 2420 code on the converter sticker. On Ford units with TCC shudeder, first try new fluid, if this doesn't help, there are other fixes available. On Chrysler FWD units with shudder, it is possible the Dextron 3 has been installed. Change to ATF+3 the problem may go away. Contact us at ShoupsAuto@igiles.net or call (931) 468-2905.
